We launched the offline, IRL events component of the A Creative DC project last month, and it's been so amazing to connect and meet, face-to-face, the doers and makers, small business owners and artists, organizers, contributors, and supporters that make up creative D.C. One of the things we're hearing across the board is how big the disconnect is between how the city's culture is perceived – at a national level, and even within the city itself – and how amazingly dense, diverse, and A L I V E we know it to be. Who's writing the D.C. narrative comes up again and again, and the answer we keep coming back to is that we can and should be crafting our own.
As part of our mission to connect, empower and push forward the D.C. creative community + D.C. creative economy at large, we're thrilled to kick off our WORKSHOPS series on Wednesday, July 22, at Wild Hand Workspace in Brookland. Focused on sharing resources + best practices, creating systems + infrastructure, and navigating the online + offline challenges specific to D.C., our first workshop is titled PROMO, and it's all about effectively promoting your work through your social media channels, who + how to email within local media, how to build a press list + use it to max benefit, and more. Because YOU make D.C. look good, and more people should know that.
Tickets are priced to be accessible to all, and they're available N O W through Eventbrite. We also have two scholarship seats available for emerging creatives under 25 – for more on that, click here. See you on the 22nd, and keep an eye on our calendar for more IRL events coming soon!
Update 7/7: tickets for PROMO are sold out. If you would like to be added to the wait list please email us at info@aCreativeDC.com.
If the wait list approaches class size we will announce a second date for this workshop!
