Today's MAKE/DO/WORK feature introduces the work of Richard "CHAOS ABZU" Mijangos, and comes with the added – and, we think, incredibly awesome – bonus of the above, city-centric W A L L P A P E R background, designed by CHAOS for your laptop and phone. We've had ours on lock(screen) for a couple of weeks now – so glad to be able to share!
"My art is the embodiment of organized chaos and just letting my mind and imagination roam freely without necessarily knowing where I will land in the end. This illustration is of the city in which I grew up, and recognize first and most, so I figured everyone deserved the illustration and not just me. I created it for everyone to download in the "cyber world."
"After living 24 years on this planet, I am a child of the Indigo and am still in the beginning process of awakening oneself through my path of enlightenment. Self-taught,I’ve had the urge to create works of art since existence. Diving into the graffiti world in high school, I was able to sharpen my artistic knowledge and love for the underground subcultures of Art. I am a highly visual, colorful, energetic, humorous, loving individual influenced by my everyday life.
I work mostly with acrylic mediums as well as oil, inks and aerosol, and spray paint, expressing my art on several different materials such as blank walls, fiber-boards, plywood sheets, canvases, and more. Themes explored range from ancient Mayan or Asian cultures, colorful geometric visions, organic thoughts, life forces, spiritual esoteric principles, collective consciousness, to intricate, psychedelic, mind-altering visualizations displaying constant metamorphosis in attempts to awaken the third eye to higher realms.
Artists like Alex Grey, MARS-1, Aryz, an-2, Salvador Dali, and The Low Bros greatly inspire me to become the best artist I can live to be. I believe everybody has a destiny and duty to fulfill while in their current physical form. It is a deep purpose that reaches out to every corner of the Earth. It is up to each person to ask themselves the questions necessary in order to free the mind, destroy egos, and ascend to higher planes of existence, thus creating a rebirth of the soul in order to embrace their journey to enlightenment. Our ultimate goal. We are all light workers placed here to expel our golden rays of light across the universe in every essence. I am here to greatly impact the world with my art. I have an entire lifetime ahead of me to create my reality"
